It struck me that all of X-Bomber's MIDIs were sounding pretty naff on my notebook. I changed that by installing a software MIDI synthesizer; Yamaha S-YXG50 XG Synthesizer for Windows XP (and presumably Vista/7) instead of Windows' tinny basic default (although the Mac default synth is no better); "Microsoft Wavetable GS".

HiS 4670 Review

Well, graduation at St-Andrews was a fair bit better than I expected.
Pictures

I received and fitted the HiS AGP 4670 Graphics Card the day before I left. Installation was a snap and it works a charm.
I had seen HiS' AGP cards listed on websites before and I wondered how good their products would be versus the more recognisable makes like ASUS, Sapphire and XTX.

Alright, this train is leaving the station. I've managed to resume work on X-Bomber for now but I have the pleasure of my Graduation on Thursday. Not looking forward to that at all.

Watched the Finale of Lost

Damn, do I feel cheated. Everybody dying was NOT how Lost was meant to end. I watched the whole series waiting for the irritating hero-doctor to buy the farm and when he did, all I wanted was for them to undo it again.

At least we got to see some more of the tragically abandoned major characters like Penny and Juliet. Even if Lost screwed everything up we still get to see Juliet (or at least the same actress) kick some alien backside in the new remake of "V", which has thankfully been renewed for another series.

New CMS

To replace the database-driven news system that I wrote a while back I'm putting in a proper CMS. You shouldn't notice any difference except that this one has comments.

I couldn't find the time to write a back-end for my news system so this is better than having to deal with phpMyAdmin the whole time and it should take some heat off our database server.
