Favourite Games

I used to own a lot of pen-and-paper RPGs but I very rarely actually played them.Among my favourites though were:Star Wars: one of the most elegant systems designed, and captured the swashbuckling mood of the films perfectly.Paranoia: one of the greatest RPG concepts ever devised; took the tradition...

UK Star Fleet DVD/Video Release

As mentioned elsewhere in this section, I've made an enquiry to Pioneer USA ( who released the Japanese box set ) but no definite answer yet, only a promise that they'll pass it onto the people who do their release line-ups.

Merry Christmas and all that jazz...

The Church of Mecha wishes everyone a Merry Christmas - but remember, a mecha is for life, not just for the last battle between you and your pretty boy arch nemesis who is actually your second cousin twice removed on your uncles side...

Christmas Present

Wow, I feel like my childhood just went past in 60 seconds...! What, no Cities of Gold? ;)Thanks, Andy, that was fun! It was also amazing how many of those fondly remembered ( well, in most cases! ) series had Japanese involvement...

Reply from Pioneer USA...

Heres Pioneer USAs reply in full:"Hello. We don't have any new acquisitions to announce. We will forward >this to our producers, who are in charge of new acquisitions.>>Animemaster"Short and to the point, no? At least they are now aware that there is some interest if nothing else. Send a m...

X-Bomber DVD Box Set

Hmm, not quite the response I was expecting, I've been an anime fan too long! We tend to scream bloody murder if liberties are taken with anime, at least these days, its not often I come across people who would *prefer* an altered version to a possibly improved new translation... ...of course, very ...

What would you change?

Clip shows can be annoying, but they do have their uses; the long running anime Urusei Yatsura has a - literal - cast of thousands but the early season had a clip show which is a very good 30 minute rundown for the unintiated. Also, some Japanese anime have interesting approaches to clip shows, and i...

X-Bomber DVD Box Set

Still no reply, but maybe it wasn't such a good idea to e-mail on a Friday afternoon... ( can't help think that some poor Pioneer employee is thinking something like: "X-Bomber? 'X'?! Must be a pron title! Better send this one onto Anime 18 or Kitty!" )A few thoughts about a hypothetical U...

CNX - whos watching?

Quote Quote: from Mighty Akuma on 3:04 pm on Dec. 7, 2002 I think CNX has started pretty well. I stumbled upon it about two months ago and found it worth watching. I'd like to see how it develops over the coming year.........Depends how much of the US broadcast stuff we get. Patlabor on TV is *way* ...
