Apparently I'm not the only one dabbling in 3D with regards to the Star Fleet stuff. Great! Well, I was wondering what the others thought about doing some character animation in 3D. Well? Has anyone else put much thought into this?I don't have Poser, but I understand it's great for just this type of idea. I have just recently started trying to make "people" in 3D and am finding it to be a massively complex task! Here are a couple of examples of what I can do:Purple HeadI made this in about a day and a half. It's my first real attempt at making a *realistic* human. So far, I've only finished the head and neck, but I plan on making a body too. Oh, I suppose you can't see the ears in that image so try this one too.Valentine's Day Movie (need QuickTime to view it)I made this in about two days. It's also my very first attempt at facial animation (note the lip-syncing). While the model isn't very complex, I believe it's fairly simple to apply the animating techniques to more complex models.I've thought about making some Star Fleet characters once I've learned these techniques a bit better. Hercules' head looks like it'd be fun to shape... :biggrin:Completely off-topic: I'm ready for that BW game later, Andy... are you? (Edited by Bradster at 7:50 pm on Feb. 15, 2002)

If I can find it I have a Zelda head animated somewhere, basic stuff bit of lip sync, head movement. There are some fab books on character animation, my favourite is from Aardman Animation, always loved their stuff especially if Nick Parks is involved.I'll find that Zelda and post it over to Andy to see what he thinks and maybe if he is in a good mood he'll stick it somewhere how do you post an image on this forum...Nigel

I've been dabbling a bit with the poser demo (now that I have had the ole computer's memory upgraded) It's really what I have been looking for to bring my 2D Drawings to life, so I think I'm gonna get me a full copy. I know it's available to purchase online, but does anyone know of any UK stockists? Thanks,Shane.

Too right! It's definitely time to get busy!I got my full copy of poser today, and I'm gob smacked. This is going to totally change the way I go about producing my Revenge Of Makara Project. I don't know how much animation I will actually use in my project (if any) but any Star Fleet models I create could be used as part of Genesis if you so wished?Shane.(Edited by Shane at 1:20 am on Feb. 22, 2002)
