Mars Astrofighter model

Time for another Star Fleet model for download! This time I decided to grab some screenshots and rebuild the Mars Astrofighter. (Remember that there are three classes of Astrofighters: Pluto, Ocean Fleet, and Mars.) This class of ship doesn't get a lot of visibility in the show. It does take a serious pounding twice as fleets are deployed to defend the Solar System from the Imperial Battle Cruiser and later the Imperial Master's flying fortress, but that's about it.Like most other ships in Star Fleet, the Mars Astrofighter was filmed using a couple different models that didn't quite have matching proportions. So, I've done my best at compromising a singular form. Here are some beauty shots of my model. It's not quite as detailed as my Imperial Figher, but that's just reflective of the far more limited material there is to work from. Here's a zip file containing three textures and the model in the following formats: 3D Studio, C4D XML, DXF, FBX, QuickDraw 3D, STL, VRML2, and Wavefront.Astrofighter_Mars.zipAs with my model of the Imperial Fighter, I'm releasing these models for free under the Creative Commons "By-NC-SA" 3.0 License. Basically, you're free to use them however you like as long as you don't charge money for it and you give credit to me as the model creator.Cheers!

Thanks! I use Cinema 4D for modeling and rendering. It's strictly a hobby of mine; I only wish I could find a job doing stuff like this! I actually would need to take some formal education in the arts, though, because I have a really hard time with organic forms and I end to think very literally. Professionally, I'm a software developer, currently employed as an e-commerce specialist for a print-on-demand publisher.I've started posting the models up for download here because I promised myself a long time ago that I'd hand over my Star Fleet work to the greater community in an "open source" sort of way. As much as I'd like to crank out some awesome renders and animations of Star Fleet, I just don't have the time. So, hopefully some day another 3D artist will come along (we actually had one professional guy, Nigel, on the forums several years ago) and adapt my work for something even better.
