This is all working out very well.Your "A-Team" comparison really made me chuckle! I'm intrigued by your idea about The Great Skull travelling through all the various dimensions, sorting out the timelines. Maybe that's what the energy beings who possessed him had in mind for him?Actually collecting souvenirs from these 7 dimensions adds a real twist to the tale, as various trinkets could be briefly mentioned, which could leave lots of other doors open to other adventures in the future...?I'd definitely write about that! I think that maybe The Great Skull would take one of the props/items from the Puppet show dimension, before the fire (now why might that fire have happened?...) destroyed everything. But which item would he take...? You'll have to wait and see One of the other dimensions is set in a computer game (not unlike TRON), which is where Crash's game comes into the fanfic dimension. But what souvenir would The Great Skull take from Crash's game? It's a super plot thread collator, that The Great Skull has to set things up for the final showdown in the 7th dimension between the F01 and the Imperial Master.BTW I loved the A-Team when I was a kid

Ah, I didn't know Makara's spirit also resided in Crash's video game, that's nifty. Is the video game world being classed as a dimension in its own right or does the hardware itself, reside in one of the 7 physical dimensions? I guess the same question applies to the TV series dimension. Yeah, loved the A-Team. It never bothered me that it was basically the same episode each week, I still lapped it up. The recent movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be although, Liam Neeson is no George Peppard. I had to laugh when they started firing a Tank's main cannon into the sea to decrease its velocity as it fell from the sky after the plane it had been stored in had been destroyed. Well, it is the A-Team!

Well, that's a very good question, and one I'm not sure I have a 100% watertight answer to. hence my late reply...But I'm thinking that the computer game world resides within one of the 7 physical dimensions, as does the TV series dimension. I have it that the ability to travel through these dimensions is only gifted to a certain few. The Great Skull is one such being, and later on, so is Captain Corliss. As an ex-ethereal being, who's fallen from grace, Makara can move through these dimensions, but only forwards, never back as she burns her bridges in each dimension, so to speak. So she's really in a corner at the end of the 7th dimension, which is the crux of my next fanfic TEC.Mary Brady was never supposed to have ended up in the ethereal plane, and so feels time-displaced, and craves for her own physical body back, we'll have to see if she gets her wish, and whether Makara's mind will finally break free of the madness...?I really wanted to weave Crash's game into a fanfic (even though I haven't actually asked him ) so making it part of another dimension, where Makara and Corliss pass through, with the Great Skull never too far behind, is one way I thought of doing it.After being put off of recent big screen "remakes" of classic series from my childhood (like the naff Dukes of Hazzard re-make), I haven't bothered to watch the "new" A-Team film. But I'll definitely check it out if you reckon it's a giggle.

I never really thought who the enemy characters would be in the game.Until now I've been occupied with ships and weapons; all that stuff that you need to make it go.I thought about having substitute characters rather than resurrecting anyone who died at the end of the series (although I have frequently thought about having Lamia help you out as a reward and obviously Captain Halley will be back! He can then just disappear later). You're not going to have much interaction with the enemies even when the game's finished. I think that makes them more menacing. The Alliance ships you fight in the game, I always thought, were remnants of the Alliance from another part of the Galaxy that move in to fill the vacuum. It says in the show that they rule 90% of the Galaxy, so you'd think there'd be plenty of them. That and the 2 year gap explain the difference in equipment. When the game's fully finished, the plot will feature as many as 6 Gelma Battlecruisers in various, slightly different configurations - all of which will be disabled or toasted (3 of them will attack together at the end of Chapter 2).The later-on plot of the game is about protecting Simetra, which is a beautiful and very elegantly high-tech planet of humans (possibly an Earth colony, ceded in the Space Wars mentioned in the show and which subsequently fell to the Alliance unnoticed). There is also another, which is only a very inhospitable mining colony.Basically, the Game's story is a single, evolving military campaign that lasts a few months at most. No good characters die. No notable enemies get killed because they never really get introduced. Basically it is like a plug-and-play story that continues a couple of years after the show's end and then leaves things as they were before at the end - but with improved relations with the worlds that the game introduces. The only good, new ships are the WingBlade which survives for a sequel and the huge EDF Space Carrier, which does not. It also introduces a mystery about an extinct, ancient alien race that built the temples in M09 and pyramid artifacts in M10, and which is vital to the main plot but which is never fully explored. However, the aliens in M12 are related to the ancients, which is why there is minor overlap in weaponry. The M12 aliens are descended from the ancients' enemies, inhabiting the M12 Cloud, which is the remnants of their destroyed planet. In m13, the Simetra science station is excavating the ancients' ruins on the planet below.Basically I adapted the story from a game that I was working on around 2004, which fell in. It had colonies, which were separated from Earth and the sleek, silver ships that appear in the Airstrike in Mission 02 are Simetra's fighters based on the main ships from the canned game. So rather than kill the project stone-dead I kinda made it live a little bit even though I decided to redo X-Bomber instead.---------------------------------------------------------------------The new A-Team film is brilliant!

Cool, that's good to know Vanessa. I doubt if I need to worry too much about the 7 dimensions in TROM. I have a duel with The Great Skull and Makara in 3 chapters time, though, and I just want to get the tone right as they both have links to the 7 dimensions and maybe even a history of sorts, although luckily both characters aren't in tip top mental condition at the time of the duel so I can continue to be slightly ambiguous about things that will likely pay off in your later stories. It's sometimes forgotten, Crash, but your game, although in a different medium, does have its own narrative part to play in the whole fan-fic epic. I love all of the stuff you've mentioned in your last post, especially the links to the ancients. You've also created a ton of new planets and vehicles, in particular the WingBlade which I'd still love to incorporate into TROM's sequel with your permission. Do you have any info about it, I think you mentioned before that the pilot was called Rain. I've got an idea that the knackered X-Bomber meets up with a star fighter that eventually becomes the WingBlade in ROTDW, but I'd happily incorporate your own take on its origin within ROTDW.

Aww thank you! I think a lot of the variants on the Alliance Fighters and Carriers turned out quite well. Considering that we didn't have much variation in the show to play with, we got a lot of mileage. That's probably because the show's ship design was so good and distinct and diverse in the first place. Well, about the pilot...I figured a while back that Rain was the product of a secret programme to produce "accelerated" pilots taking place without EDF's knowledge in some future Eastern Block dictatorship maybe. When the Alliance Fortress arrives and creates havok, the only successful subject of the alteration programme escapes and winds up with EDF.So, they put her in medically induced coma until Professor Hagan synthesises the drugs that support her rapidised thought process. The ship is designed for her afterwards as a second generation Dai-X Fighter, which can undertake missions on its own. I see no reason why it wouldn't need a prototype; perhaps an uncoloured performance tester with less armament. (If they made it dark grey rather than red-and-white it would be less obvious to anyone who saw it what it was meant to connect up to later on).The ship reads the brain activity of the pilot and administers various support chemicals through through the flightsuit and helmet. Otherwise Rain has a receiver port that delivers glowing, blue liquid from hypodermics to the brain stem. The ship has: - two pulse guns,- two small, swivel vulcan guns under the wingtips,- a large number of internal missiles; both laser and conventional,- miniature X-Tracer emitters in the wings' leading edges,- a small, rotating dome on its back that launches countermeasures.- a pink shield that can be raised momentarilyI also drew up a good transformation sequence that makes the ship more streamlined when it's not attached to Dai-X. The engine pods slide back along the sides of the fuselage to make the ship longer and the swingwings sweep back. The vehicle's cockpit opens from below and completely wraps around the pilot. In addition there may be some additional accommodation space. After all, in the comics, the three pilots are shown to hold a meeting onboard LegTrax and the size of the two larger Dai-X Fighters certainly indicates that there could be limited accommodation space apart from the cockpits. There is a large compartment for small arms as well as a motorcycle-like ground vehicle. So, your characters in ROTDW are not the only ones not in full account of their marbles. I would say that Rain is strongly affected by her past - very cautious in all things except combat, very private, not one to suffer fools gladly but with a wide humanitarian streak underneath. Without proper medication she experiences extreme discomfort and goes uncontrollably postal.

I think your game storyline is really impressive Crash. It's worthy of it's own fanfic really.I can see that the computer game dimension that I am keen to write about will have to be separate to your own, maybe a virus-infected version in which Makara's spirit is the virus? That way she could corrupt just one player's game, and maybe draw them TRON-like into it, to do battle? But your own game-universe is very compelling from a fiction-point of view   I definitely think that Rain deserves a Movie all of her own. It's definite comic-book fayre, and we all know how well they translate to the big screen! Maybe one day I'll be watching her do battle at my local Odeon? Her ship is awesome, and if she appears in ROTDW she would certainly do some serious damage to the Alliance forces!I hope Shane does include her and her amazing ship in his story.Really top stuff there!

With Chapter 25: The Temple of the Ancients posted, TROM has just 3 chapters and an epilogue to go now. Woo Hoo! Might just finish this. My plan of action after the serialisation of TROM is complete is to go through it all again with a fine tooth comb and correct any continuity, spelling and grammatical errors.I will also extend certain chapters where needed (the Termoid gunfight and the infiltration of Arkama's battle cruiser are two examples) and give the story a little polish where needed, although I'm happy with the core plot and won't be making any drastic changes.Once it's had its final proof read I'm going to make it available in two flavours:A text only document (Much like Vanessa's Rise of the Alliance). And an illustrated edition which will feature the sketches I've made so far along with a whole batch of new ones.I've mentioned in Crash's game thread that I'd also like to create an updated TROM trailer, but this is likely to happen after both above editions have been completed.
