I think you'll find it's popular with the same sort of group that enjoyed Spaced - and it is a very clever pastiche of 80s shows. Complete with typical "ho ho ho everything's OK then" type endings so beloved of shows like the A Team and Knight Rider... In fact it's almost reminiscent of Doctor Who if Doctor Who didn't take itself seriously?! And next week kids - it's the return of Black Books!Personally I found the use of the old style Channel 4 logo very clever as well - you have to wonder if historians looking at it would be fooled for a while...!
