On the Freelancer front - I revisited the demo and quite enjoyed it. I managed to avoid triggering the end of the demo for quite a while, bought a freighter with turrets, visited a very spooky area of the map which wasn't marked and looked quite interesting. Starlancer is an older game but I think it's a similar concept. But - it just doesn't have the same appeal as, say, Frontier. Why? Well, if you fly into a planet in Freelancer - you do just that. No atmosphere, no opportunity to fly over the surface - even with the ground bases you have to approach them through a docking ring and then it's an automated docking cut scene. So as one of the reviews said, it's sort of "VerynearlybutnotquiteFreelancer".
