Who are you? who who, who who?

(Crash Override @ Feb. 27 2011,14:50)QUOTEOne thing that makes me object fervently to Facebook is the creeps that invented it.I mean there's nothing innovative about it. It's just a message board for people who went to University.A bit like Nokia, how popular did they become by making average phones that - for some reason - were fashionable? And now ... they're losing market share hand-over-fist as people realise the merit of the alternatives. The sad thing was that the better alternatives were there before. You just had to look hard enough.Stupid sheeple. It's not innovative, but it is the user interface for the masses at the moment as it's dead easy to use. It's a far cry from my original uni-days in the early 90s when the internet meant walls of text and having to book the one internet equipped computer in advance.Let's face it, it's not the late 90s early 00s anymore when internet nerds ruled the roost. A certain level of internet democracy has taken place where applications have been simplified so that even your gran or dog can use a computer now. (I don't have a gran, but my friend's dog, Bonzo loves World of Warcraft) As I said, Facebook is a double edged sword. A mere tool. If I want to have a proper conversation I'll phone a friend, but it's fine to shoot the breeze sometimes, although I do worry that some users end up devaluing real-life friendships by the fact that it's too easy to comment or like something.Facebook - It's love/hate, but it's here to stay and at least it's not myspace which is a complete mess.I've got a Nokia because they're so dang cheap. That's one thing I've never been into - mobile phones. I don't want it to make the tea or do my homework, just make and receive calls. I know I'm in the minority though.Hey, discussions on sfxb in 2011. Who'd a thought it a year ago?

You're not in a total minority there Shane, as that's basically all I want my mobile phone to do as well. That mine also has a handy torchlight on it is a bonus, and VERY occasionally I do take the odd photo or two. However, my sim-card is so out of date, it can't handle pictures at all, so I take the SD card out of my phone and download any photos I've taken (there aren't many, believe me) onto my laptop. Now bring on the next debate

How did Mickey Mouse ruin Power Rangers? - except for the obvious, that he was created by Walt 'Nazi-sympathiser' Disney?
