Well, unless you can give us any more details I don't think anyone's going to have any luck.  I looked for it around the time Dave was wondering about the show he remembered.  Does the video's box have any production etc details?  I did come across another combining robot show on my travels, though, another animated one - but it's a three ships = one robot one so again might be the one Dave remembers:http://www.toonarific.com/s/starvengers.htmlInteresting that Toei were involved with that series too, although they are a big publishing house in Japan of course, so...

I'm opening a dormant topic after 10 years, but I'm curious.Does this guy mean "Space Patrol" or something? The puppets between "Space Patrol" and "Star Fleet" look rather similar.I can't find any puppet series under the title "Star Force" really.

I think he might have meant Star Force: Space Fugitive IIthe entire movie is on Youtube, but given the MST3K treatment, which should give you an indication of how bad it is:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSf2Td8ZZQsIt's a live-action Japanese show, but with plenty of Thunderbird-style model shots. The dubbed version seems to have been produced by Sandy BOTP Frank.

And I think Liza Ross, Garrick Hagon and Jay Benedict are in it too. So I guess it's similar in more than one aspect, or that was what he meant! No where tells me who did the dubbing voices, but I'm certain it's them! Either way, the dubbing voices are very good; despite how crappy the production

Ah yes I think i have this on VHS somewhere. Dr/ Prof Yurulin is Peter Marinker. it's all live action no puppets what so ever. Oh and it's dubbed really badly.I can't find anything that looks like another puppet show of the same discription and i've been looking for like the last 18 years so I just assume it's my pre 7 year old brain confusing star fleet / terrahawks and anything else i watched as a kid getting muddled up.

Also I swear that Barry Hercules is narrating; Constantine Gregory possibly.Which is why this movie is featured on MST3K and thus ensuing in the Sandy Frank song.It would be an interesting thing if it was true. There were miniature models and explosions like "Star Fleet", but that's about it.There is another one where the puppets are similar looking to "Star Fleet" is a Taiwanese puppet series called "Pili", except the puppets are less cariacatured, and their mouths don't sync like "Star Fleet"s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-OU79maIdkThat show's been around since the 80's and unbelievably still runs today in China. It's interesting to say the least, but unlike "Star Fleet" this show got a much more horrid English dub, making it a comedy on Cartoon Network in 06.

Goodness that Pili show is a bit violent isn't it!?! Lots of blood and people getting their heads chopped off!Hardly childrens fare. The flashy effects sequences and relentless fast action clips made my head spin after a while. The costumes that the characters wore were very elaborate and ornate. The whole thing is very Far Eastern really, not surprising considering it's origins I guess.I can only speak personally here, but that youtube clip contained enough "Pili" action do me for quite a while
