Well, as I said before, volume 1 really isn't one of the best, so please don't let it put you off getting the others, Greeba. And I will say again, to anyone who hasn't already got Vol 4, I really do recommend it, otherwise you're missing out on a most entertaining treat! Um, how is Kate Kestrel more menacing than Zelda? That is something I can't agree!

What's so good about Hostages of Mars (Volume 4)?To Catch A Tiger was a good episode a great startbut Mind Monster was an OK episode not brilliant, Operation S.A.S is a bit lame andTen Top Pop is just Operation S.A.S again, the plots are the same.

I just find Operation SAS and Ten Top Pop very entertaining; the plots are similar, you're right, except that Stu is temporarily converted to a baddy in Ten Top Pop. It's a shame we don't get to see his reaction when Zelda's hypnosis has worn off: whether or not he remembers threatening Kate, and feels guilty.Volumes 5 and 6 come next, in my estimation; then Vol 3, then 2, then 1.

My blood pressure could go sky high, as the other day I did a google search on Moya Griffiths, and found a page about Terrahawks, written by another complete cretin (alright, now I'm beginning to sound like Zelda!) giving a summary of the series, saying it relied too much on Gerry Anderson's older programmes, but didn't come anywhere close to recreating their charm. I just give up trying to understand the mind of the typical Anderson fan, I'm obviously not intended to be one of them, and I just can't see the "charm" of the classic series. It's significant that besides Terrahawks, the only other programme of the genre that captivated me was (obviously) Starfleet, which had nothing to do with Gerry A. at all!

I've never known someone to like Terrahawks but notThunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray etc Which Anderson shows have you seen anyway?Ten Top Pop is a very good episode to feature Stew Dapples as when he was brainwashed he became...well....normal

Oh yeah, I can well believe the bit about Thawks relying a lot on all the series that preceded it, that's very credible. It was the remark about Terras not coming close to recreating their charm, that made me fume.I saw Thunderbirds and Stingray a few times when I was very little; I found them dull, I'm afraid, they just didn't do much for me. In 1983, I got hooked on Starfleet, on Saturday mornings. When it finished, I missed it, so when Terrahawks came along I decided to try it, as a substitute. I wasn't all that hopeful, because I knew it had the same origins as Thunderbirds and Stingray; but, it was much better than I expected! The guy who does the reviews of old children's programmes on the 80sNostalgia site also says he generally wasn't very keen on Gerry Anderson, but Terrahawks was the only one he liked.I tried Captain Scarlet fairly recently, as an adult, but didn't stick it very long, I switched off before the episode ended. I may give it another chance, if you really recommend it. I believe the characters have colour-themed names, like in Cluedo?I haven't seen Fireball XL5, Joe 90, Spacecar or Secret Service. If they come to TV again, I will watch them. As I have said before, it's funny that the 2 ancient shows with Denise Bryer's voice (Twizzle and Four Feather Falls) have vanished into thin air.I gave Thunderbirds another chance when I was 17, but still didn't become a fan. To me, it just wasn't in the same league as Terrahawks or Starfleet.

My Google search for Moya Griffiths found one result that was not related to Terrahawks: apparently she starred in a film called The Vampyr in the early 90s. Doesn't look as if she has been in the limelight much otherwise, though.

If they come to TV again, I will watch them.<<Believe me you are never going to see XL5 and Supercar on TV as they are in black and white and Secret Service is known as the fogotten Supermarionation show, last time Supercar and The Secret Service were on was the late 70's and XL5 was last seen just after Terrahawks finished (so around 1986)And last time Joe 90 was on was the mid 90's but Joe 90 is out on DVD in late September I just hope the other three will follow soon.
