Oh dear, my last message in this thread was meant to be encouraging, and seems to have had a negative effect. Believe me, they ARE good to watch. Several people here had said the quality was a bit grainy, and that the series obviously hadn't been cleaned up before being re-released. I was imagining a disgustingly faded, fuzzy picture, and was relieved to find my DVD gave me no cause for complaint at all. As I conceded, I could see what the guys here meant, if it had been digitally remastered it would be that bit brighter, but it's hardly of any significance, honestly.

Oh, okay I see. I just figured they might have cleaned them up like they did for thunderbirds a couple of years back. However that was a fairly major process and it took the BBC quite long time.

I wonder what has happened to the original, totally uncut version of the series? (It has already been acknowledged that Revelation have used the TV broadcast masters.) I hope it hasn't been wiped from existence?
