What makes me wonder is:The cockpits would have to revolve twice in order for the pilots to be facing the right way.Where do Dai-X's hands go - in some scenes they actually go missing.

Many Japanese giant robots are partly, or fully, controlled by a sophisticated voice control method called "shouting". Having a Burning Will has been known to help too.As to the hands - this sort of thing in anime is usually put down to "anime magic", but the MekTon Zeta role-playing game devised a method called "expanding plasma" to explain it...
