Help shape the Star Fleet DVD

Post by AndyThomas »

OK one and all. Fabulous Films have been in touch, and they have managed to line up an interview with Go Nagai, the creator of the original Japanese X-Bomber series. This is great news in and of itself, but on top of this, they need your help in coming up with interview questions. So if you have questions you would like put to Go Nagai, please email them t this address and obviously feel free to duplicate them here - might help avoid the same questions being asked. Have a good think, because this is unlikely to ever happen again...sfxb@fabulousfilms.co.uk

Sounds like a fantastic extra for the DVDs.Questions for Go Nagi:What were your feelings regarding the reception that X Bomber received when first shown in Japan? What did you think of the entirely brand new soundtrack produced by the UK production team for Star Fleet?Rumour has it that most of the puppets and models were destroyed after the making of X Bomber, is this true? If so, did anything survive? Do you own any of the surviving props yourself? Also, were you aware that there was great interest for a second series of Star Fleet after it was initially shown in the UK, but for the above reasons this could not go ahead?

Hi AndyI can't actually think of any questions for Go (yet) but I was wondering, have FF investigated the possibility of having an isolated score on the DVD..? I would KILL to have all that music on its own..

Well, email them and ask for it! I think that, within reason, they'll do their best to accommodate whatever we ask for. When you say isolated score - just the sort of music track by itself, assuming it's separate from the voice track?

The isolated score would be absoloute gold!!! Don't know what they've got to work with though, probably just the transmission master tapes. The Brian May music video looks to me like a more than probable inclusion for the DVD. It's just the sort of pop culture reference that would work well as a DVD extra. (Like the BBC broom cupboard segment on the MSOG DVD.) Hopefully no rights issues will get in the way; not sure what kind of budget Fabulous Films have to play with.Would love to see that tv spot, if it's still around.

Actually, I could quite happily do WITHOUT that turgid Brian May video thank you very much - wouldn't it cost a fortune to include it anyway?? ;)

Well, The "Brian May" music video is owned by EMI International and not Duck Productions (Brian's own company). Brian will indeed have a say so on it's inclusion, but from what I have gathered - it was supposed to make it's debut on a supposed forthcoming Brian May Best Of CD&DVD Package. However, I don't think there should be an issue... And as for the video itself - yes - it maybe cringe worthy for some - but I LOVE IT! (Being a die hard Queen fan anyway...) and if it does make it's way (I think) Brian would indeed make his own inclusion in an interview regarding the video...OH, and of course - an interview with Paul Bliss MUST be included... Pwetty PLEASE!
