I've been having a huge clearout at home today and in the process I found an old copy of SFX dated April 1999. This was a special issue that featured what a panel of judges considered to be the top 50 Sci Fi shows of all time. Anyway I was flicking through it and to my surprise Star Fleet actually made the chart at number 45 between Evangelion at 46 and Max Headroom at 44.Here's the small piece they wrote about the Show which isn't anything new but it's nice all the same:Shane.

Good ol' SFX, they do seem to have a soft spot for the series. Would you mind if I added that to my SFX article page Shane? Do you know which issue number the April 1999 issue was, just for the sake of completion? I like the way it doesn't quite get the details right too ;) (It was Dr Benn that smoked, not Prof Hagen, but I'm sure you all knew that!)

Yeah go for it Andy. I checked the SFX articles on your site before I posted just in case you already had it, best to keep all the info in one place. I can get you a cover scan if you need it but theres no Star Fleet images on it unfortunately. The chart was compiled in the 50th issue of SFX and the panel consisted of the regular reviewers plus some more famous names such as John Landis, Terrance Dicks, Terry Pratchett, Michael Moorcock, Bill Mumy and David Bishop to name but a few. How they effected Star Fleet's place in the charts is uncertain but it was up there with the best of them at the end of the day.Yeah the mistakes like the DIE-X are funny now, but it's not a bad breakdown of the show for the time. Nowadays they would probably just visit sfxb and rip off all the info there. ;)Shane. (Edited by Shane at 3:03 pm on Aug. 18, 2002)
