Where how many imperial training planets were there

Post by AndyThomas »

Given the cybernetic implants, and overall same-ness of the termoids, I doubt there would be much training as such - indoctrination, programming, certainly. There were probably specialisms e.g. ground trooper, pilot, engineer etc. but I imagine only those identified early on in some sort of screening process ever got a shot at the higher ranks, like Makara. And given the Master's general approach to poor performance, it undoubtedly was a case of survival of the fittest. Bearing in mind it's a Japanese show the concept of honour is undoutedly in there too - a Samurai who failed his master was, I believe, expected to fall on his own sword...

I always liked the ancient fairytale look of all the planets and ships that the X Bomber encountered beyond our solar system. I think it gives the show a more timeless feel. It's probably why the Alliance runs the whole show at the time of the series, as apart from the Skull there didn't seem to be much in the way of oposition. The King and Queen had to be badgered into using their big ray gun for instance, and that was built by Prof Hagen. Keeli's planet did have some sleeping ancient weapons, but I think that was about it when it came to alien technology in the series.Shane.
