The Star Fleet/X-Bomber Sound Effect Package

Post by Bladez636 »

I've found myself compiling several sound effects from "Star Fleet" *in some cases using the foreign versions since the UK master mixed between them* and thus I'm proud to present this to you all:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M4HU21BHHalf of these were compiled by me, and the other half was by http://www.youtube.com/user/jamesuk9999 as part of his Cinesound Effect Library preservation project. The masters behind half of Star Fleet's English masters as well as Thunderbirds, the James Bond Films, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Alien .etcThe other half of the masters were from "Theatre 3 Productions" which I assume are the Japanese masters used in there. Cinesound has a lot stronger effect with it's sounds than the Japanese masters.I apologize for any clips in bad condition, that's thanks to having no access to any better quality pieces....Enjoy....

Wow! Hugely impressive piece of work there! At last - A whole bank of Star Fleet sound effects to play around with. These will be ideal for future fan-projects not to mention Crash's game and the fan-dub of Episode 18.

Yes, please can I have a copy when you're done? I'll host it for anyone else to use.Amazingly impressed with what you've done. If got a zip file with such a breadth of sounds in for me to play with, that would be my prayers answered.EDIT: My bad - I hadn't realised you'd done this already! Nice ... One.

This is totally AWESOME!!! Well done Sir!I absolutely love sound effects. I used to "collect" them when I was a little kid, using a portable tape-recorder, like the one's you used to use to load computer games onto such high-tech marvels as the Sinclair Spectrum 48K Plus (which I had as  kid).See, I did used to play computer games, but that was a while ago!   Anyways, when Youtube came along, I realised that there were others who loved old sound effects too, so I dug out my old tapes and listened to them again. Listening to this huge list of Star Fleet sound effects bought back all those old memories again...I didn't realise that (how daft I'm going to sound now...) TV/Movie studios used the same sound effect clips over and over again for different shows, which they selected from the same library. I did wonder why the effects from different shows often sounded so familiar. I've just finished watching all the Ulysses 31 DVD's and there were many of these self-same sound effects on that show as well. Incidentally, I really enjoyed watching Ulysses 31 again after all these years. I would heartly recommend it.I checked out "JamesUK9999's" sound effects page and was amazed by all the old sound effects that have been used and re-used on so many shows. They are a historically significant resource in their own right. I also spotted a 10 month-old comment from a Star Fleet fan, I guess that was you Bladez636? You should've joined the Forum earlier!   I agree with Shane, your work will be a great benefit to any future Star Fleet/X-Bomber projects involving sounds, such as the EP18 Fan-dub project   In fact, your appearance on the Forum couldn't have come at a better time. Not to mention the fact that I now have enough Star Fleet sound effects for my Mobile phone and SMS incoming alert sounds to last me for the next Milliton! It was worth every penny of the trip to the shop to buy another PAYG mobile internet top-up voucher   Better not rattle on any longer, but suffice it to say I'm hugely impressed!

I go by the name "thebladezmanII", I use an icon of Makara off of here.Bad/Good News: Monday, my laptop finally died on me. I have a new one now. Anyhow, the main problem is that I can't get Sony Vegas (my sound editing system) back so far, really unsure why it won't install it. Plus let's add the fact that Movie Maker sucks (even more so now that it's been replaced w/ Movie Maker Live). Anyhow, I won't quit that easy.... Best Buy sells a version of Vegas for $49 which is quite a deal. I really wouldn't worry too much on your part.I also am really unadjusted to my laptop (which is a Toshiba, at the advice of my girlfriend), so I'll be taking it in each day at a time.... slowly. Which means I will actually be off for half the day, which I will spend being lifeless in another fashion; watching DVDs..... Watch some Thunderbirds, Star Fleet, finish off my Joe 90 DVD and perhaps re-acquaint myself with my Invader Zim DVD's.....Anyhow, it's a really good thing I decided to do this two days before it happened, not to mention finishing my Caliban picture. Though this wouldn't have gone totally to waste, as I had been anticipating this event for a long time and backed up all my sounds on a file sharing network. As such, I must go to the trouble of finding the rar file I downloaded the SF Soundtrack off of (Yes, I'm a dirty downloader.... Keep in mind, I'd gladly buy the CD were I not poor/depended on my parents credit card to buy stuff offline for me. Think less of me, I deserve it)

Ah, thought that was you with the Makara Icon!Good luck with your new Laptop, I know how long it can take to adjust to a new computer, but Toshiba's are a good make. We used to use them at work and they were fine, so you should be up and runnin' in no time If you've got time to pass watching DVD's, you'd do a lot worse than to check out Ulysses 31, you'd certainly recognise the sound effects!

Hell, it has over 500GB, that stomps my old comp's memory into paste!I'm really not very fond of anime shows or any Japanese media.... Closest is Thunderbirds 2086 which I can't even get into. Believe me, I was surprised when I got into "Star Fleet". I'm the kind of person who really can't get around the whole "tentacle rape" thing too.... So yeah..... My dislike of it has pretty much been a reason for my divergance in interests with my girlfriend (who is an anime freak). By that, I might assume they use the same Japanese masters or the English dub uses Cinesound....BTW as you asked before, my reason for not joining these forums earlier were mainly because I was trying to wait and see if that registration error would clear up, which it obviously hadn't

Gundam will fix that for you.I am not an anime person, really. There is an *awful* lot of rubbish that the Japanese produce as anime. However, like any normal TV show, some are terrible, some are brilliant. One problem I have is that some of the anime Sci-Fi is too extreme and often quite disturbed with superhuman nonsense and psychology and religion and what-not.I take Akira (which is sickening) as an example there and Evangelion as a lesser example, which is truly great, once you get your head around it (which took me some time).Gundam is nice because it is a 'middle-of-the-road' anime. It just has realistic, giant robots that make a fair amount of sense. It's quite hard sci-fi really and beyond that, it's just a matter of man's inhumanity to his fellows, which is just real.Gundam's action is always good and its music really finishes it off.

The initial spread of Anime through the appearance of films like the Urotsukidojii series did the whole Anime genre no good at all IMHO.Crash wtote: QUOTEI am not an anime person, really. But there are some non-violent, non-sexually explicit shows as well, that are worth checking out. So to avoid all Anime would be to miss out on some good stuff.I've yet to check out Gundam but I hope to at somepoint, on Crash's recommendation. I'm also looking forward to watching Steamboy pretty soon as well. You pays yer money and takes yer choice...
