Help shape the Star Fleet DVD

Post by PaulHarald »

Hello!Anyone else got their HMV pre-order cancelled, and then getting another email from HMV with an apology that the cancellation was an error?I did - but the real issue, is that the order I placed was for the super-duper-collectors-extras-edition ("This collectors edition also includes a reproduction 56 page comic book of the Star Fleet series, a concise series guide booklet, a double sided poster, and 6 collectors postcards.")...and that's the one that got cancelled, and now there is no such thing to be ordered anywhere, just the regular 4DVD set.I would REALLY like to have the collectors edition, but now what? I emailed Fabulousfilms, but no reply yet...

I think there's only one DVD set. They're all the same. The standard set comes with all the things you describe according the the email I got from FabFilms.I gotta say I hate those green menus on the DVD.

Well, I'll cut them some slack considering that we'll get all of the other awesome goodies and the menus are still at least as good if not better than most "old TV show" re-release DVD menus I've seen. I've just looked over Andy's DVD preview article again for probably the third time and I'm still giddy about the whole kit. The screen grabs of the interview segments make for a great little teaser.Oh, and not to be overlooked... congratulations to Andy on getting listed in the DVD credits!! I'm sure it's well-earned after all the work you've done these past many years in collecting and sharing Star Fleet information and maintaining these discussion forums. Three cheers to you, man!

Three cheers to you, man!I should point out that the menu screens are also animated as they come in - they do grow on you! I've actually had a reasonable amount of input into the text of the DVD, if only in a quality control style! So for example, they had no episode names so they borrowed the Japanese ones but rather than refer to Captain Custer I suggested referring to Captain Carter instead. The result is a slightly odd mix and probably still not entirely consistent with the English language version, but what the hey! I'll point out now that I didn't have any input into Go Nagai's subtitles, before anyone starts going all pedantic on me when they see them! But yes, it was great to feel that I had some input so that, hopefully, it's that little bit closer to what we would have wanted to see...
