THAT auction...

Post by AndyThomas »

Well well, I didn't think I'd ever see the fabled Fantastic Films issue appear on EBay - it's mentioned in the Manga Max article appendices, but I've never bothered to actually look for it. I can see this one getting silly - perhaps those bidding should just agree to share and share alike?! I'm sure we'll all get to see it one way or another! This is what the Manga Max article says:US Article: X-Bomber: Star Wars a la Gerry Anderson by Fred Patten in Fantastic Films Vol 3 no 9, June 1981, Blake Publishing Corp, USANote the year as well which I'm sure won't have escaped your attention - that's pre-release over here, so when they say X Bomber, they MEAN X Bomber!

I don't know, have you lost something? ;)[tumble weeds blow through the forum]There's an auction on Ebay involving the above issue of Fantastic Films which includes an article on X Bomber. To my knowledge, none of us have ever actually laid eyes on this article, but it was mentioned in the Manga Max article on SFXB as just about the only place aside from Japanese mags and Look In (and SFX magazine, actually, thinking about it...) that carried any mentions of the mag. Hence it's quite an unusual item and for the sake of all the wallets concerned I'm hoping that people will just decide to let someone get it for something reasonable - but then, it's an auction site, and if someone really wants it for their collection rather than just the content of the article (which I'd be interested in) then by all means bid away!

If a wasp ever flew into my gob, I would wish I hadn't opened it! Touch wood, that has never happened to me, so far; hope it never will!

Happened to me once. Not a pleasant experience - I managed to spit it out but it got a good shot in before it left unfortunately. Probably why I get a certain satisfaction in seeing an Imperial fighter carrier get taken out!
