Well well, based rather unusually in the US. Might drop Enoki a quick line about this one. Nice use of the Jigsaw/Annual images off the various sites I see (given that the annual wasn't released in the US), probably what constitutes the "wraparound covers on the DVD slip cases". Interesting that it's stated to be region 1 encoding - presumably then this is not just a transfer of VCDs to DVDs? Also suggests they're mighty confident about the DVD production method - I'm not up on it, but aren't some DVD players fussy about which type of DVD writing format you use?

Not normally - as long as the region's right - it's supposed to be OK - even then you can often get your DVD player chipped to play anything you want.

Well well, 2 DVDs this time and in the UK - link noted on another forum. Just a matter of time I suppose with DVD burners commonplace...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws....40&rd=1And interestingly, given the link to the URL, "we know who you are" courtesy of Nominet...

yep, seen this seller before - sooo flouting the Ebay rules with this "don't bid, just email me" stuff.... who is it? His site...http://www.mamedvds.co.uk... is sooo dodgy. He says:COPY THESE CDS AND GIVE THEM AWAY BY ALL MEANS, BUT DO NOT SELL THESE ROMS - IT IS ILLEGAL!yet, he's selling them himself - oh no sorry, he's not selling goods to order, he's providing a non-profit service. Hmmmm... 2 blank DVDs for a tenner? I can buy a box of 10 for about that these days...

Well, Go Nagai was the guy who designed the Dai-X and all the equipment, no?

Oddly enough I'd come to realise this just recently. The old Enoki Star Fleet page is still up, but it's no longer linked to or listed in their list of current titles. Putting 2 and 2 together it seemed likely that the above was the case, and I'd understood that there was a dispute going on.My best guess, and it's just a guess, is that Go Nagai who as Crash says is effectively the creator of the series in Japan is rumoured not to like seeing his shows licensed outside of Japan. If this is the case, and the rights have reverted to Japan - which makes sense given the DVD release over there - then we could face a bit of a problem. So the next question would be - who's fighting over the rights, if Enoki isn't; bear in mind that Enoki may itself be sub-licensed for US distribution and so it may be that its licensor is the one in dispute with the ultimate owner of the rights in Japan. Tricky.

It's quite interesting really, If Enoki US has indeed lost the rights to use the original Japanese footage that's makes up half of the western Star Fleet package. Star Fleet's audio dub: dialogue, sound effects and music were of course custom built by the Uk Producers so that surely can't be under any Japanese control, but was there ever a finite period of time in regards to the licensing of the Japanese footage?Either way looks bleak for the "never in a million years" Uk DVD release of Star Fleet. Everyone must have a bootleg of it by now anyway. Shane.
