The Eagle landing "gear" is more of a square-shaped pad, so I still say those are skids - but I think we can all agree they... are... not... wheels!

I'm surprised they don't have racks on the battlecruiser that they hang / launch them from, like with tiefighters or hawkwing.

Yes, or Starfury style. Which is precisely why, I think, there's a little artistic licence going on with the Look In comics - the artist had to come up with a way for those fighters to land independent of a carrier. Not unreasonable either as we know they have a fold-away claw...

Its probably more than a little artistic licence, I would imagine the artist would only have had the TV series to really go by to draw ideas from.

Well interestingly enough, the artist in question did draw other Gerry Anderson strips for Look In - so the comparisons with Anderson-esque ships aren't entirely tongue in cheek...
