Feel the Star Fleet Funk!

Post by Shane »

I've been doing a fair bit of music lately for myself and various projects. So I thought while I've got the music bug I might have a crack at reproducing one of the cooler tunes from Star Fleet. You can download the mp3 "Star Fleet Battlefunk" here:http://www.bigdaix.com/starfleetbattlefunk.mp3It only took about half an hour to do so it's a little rough around the edges but I think it's quite passable, and I can always refine it at a later date.I may tackle some of the other tunes from the Star Fleet score particularly the ones that are drowned out by all the explosions and laserfire.Anyway let me know what you think. Shane.

#Moderation ModeVery trippy ;) I recommend Ambience:Random for full mesmerising effect when viewing through Windows Mediaplayer! (Moved to "Other Creative Work" because that forum's feeling sorry for itself! )Moved here

Thanks wolf2k2. I posted this topic originaly in the show section because it's currently getting beaten into submision by the Terrahawks section. Y'know judging by the post numbers this board should be called the Terrahawks discussion forum. ;)Shane.

If I embarked on such a project do I go for a purist take on it and try and recreate each track from the show note by note sound by sound or do I go for a more contempory feel incorperating modern dance elements. I'd say that the Battlefunk track would fall into the former category as I purposefuly went for the old analogue sound, check out the cheesy 80's drums on it for instance. I think the trippiness you mention is actually straight from the show itself just check out the synth noodlings when the guys arrive at moonbase. I swear thats a Roland Juno synth (which is actually the one I used on the battlefunk track)Anyway I have Lamia's theme chalked up for my next attempt but which episode is the music from that you mention Mike.Shane.

Shane, I think Mike's referencing episode 4 when X-Bomber and the transports get jumped in the asteroid belt. There's also quite a "blank" bit of funk just before the action kicks in on that episode if that's any use?

I've checked out the episode in question. Like Andy said theres that really weird down tempo groove going on as they travel past Mars and then on into the asteroid feild. Then I take it the bass heavy funk workout when the Imperial drone carriers attack is the one were after. It's quite short but I can always extend it.Shane.(Edited by Shane at 6:34 pm on Oct. 1, 2002)
