X-Bomber Re-dub?

Post by Vanessa »

I understood the Termoids to be cyborgs. Originally living creatures that have been through a conversion process of robotic enhancement, into the standard form of the Alliance footsoldier, or "Termoid".It would certainly be fun to link this back to an original 100% organic creature that was used as the basis for all subsequent Termoid constructs. In TRA I envisaged fully mechanised production lines that converted suitable captured organic lifeforms into Termoid footsoldiers. After all, the Imperial Master would need huge armies of these beings to further his evil Galaxial-dominating ends   I am certainly looking forward to reading about the origins of the Termoid design.Like many (I suspect) I had never heard of Interster until your post, Bladez636. It looks like a really cracking show, with some pretty advanced and awesome (for the time) puppetry techniques. Certainly more advanced than X-Bomber's puppet's.It looks like a better show than Terrahawks, at first glance, and I really like Terrahawks, so that's praise indeed.I agree that it's crying out to be re-mastered and re-dubbed into English. It could do with slightly better SFX and a catchier music score too. This is certainly a cult hit in the making. It definitely needs it's own devoted website. It would be a huge undertaking to re-dub the entire show, as there are two seasons, with possibly 26 shows. Going on season 1 having 13 shows, that is...Does anyone know if the series had a proper ending, or whether it just stopped (like Terrahawks very annoyingly did) and got dropped?I'd definitely like to see it released outside of SA.

X-Bomber Re-dub?

Post by Crash »

It wouldn't be too bad - people fansub things all the time, don't they? It takes about a week maximum before any Gundam movie or OVA is released with unofficial English subtitles. But those are specialised, almost militant head-cases with intimate knowledge of Japanese language and culture, developed over a lifetime of fandom. - So, for us, yes, it would be a major undertaking. That's why I'm surprised nobody's gone and done it - A deeply unsatisfactory situation.I'd be interested whether it reached a proper conclusion. One thing I've thought about is a large black, super-dense planet where Alliance Space Fortresses are carved out and then circle in orbit until they're needed.I think there's a fair amount of evidence in the show to indicate that the Termoid is both partly mechanised and partly creature at the same time - (the bionic termoid assassin perhaps being more of the former and less of the latter).
Dream big and bold and daring.

X-Bomber Re-dub?

(Vanessa @ Apr. 26 2011,01:20)QUOTELike many (I suspect) I had never heard of Interster until your post, Bladez636. There was one really good fansite out there (in Afrikaans) that I cannot find anymore. Not very much info exists outside SA, which is why the internet doesn't have a good lot of info. The show's existance wasn't really known on the internet until the wikipedia page was spawned. Every now and then, someone online who worked on "Interster" will come and share what they know.... The workers on the show were all English speaking.I hear Andersonic Magazine's last issue has more accurate info on it's creation and actually managed to get into contact with Buks de la Ray's original voice actor, Dawie Ackermann. Unfortunately I'm broke, so I can't buy it.... Plus I don't have the patience for a UK magazine to be shipped to me in the US.I have obtained a bit of accurate info with some hard searching (wikipedia's information on the series being created in the late 70's is incorrect, it was made in 1981-1983) which I plan putting on my supermarionation website.Naturally I agree with Vanessa's statement. "Star Fleet" I feel was enhanced with the new sounds put into it from far superior masters, rather than just sticking with anime masters. As for "Interster", I would assume those lousy sounds were all they had, as SA was being rejected by every other country. They probably couldn't get any better masters. One things for sure, if it ever happens.... They better keep the original Afrikaan's theme music - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96GY6fK1QEgUnlike the rest, that is just really funky stuff! I love it....If I do it, I sure as hell will. As for the rest, I'm unsure what to do..... Ask someone who composes on the IZFAS forums to help out, or just use Barry Gray masters again. I myself would prefer to do something different like "Star Fleet" or "Terrahawks" did.

The other half enjoys mystery....

X-Bomber Re-dub?

Good reply! So, it appears that a lot of Wikipedia's info on Interster is innacurate... Well fancy that I would really like to watch the entire series, with at least English subtitles, if not a proper re-dub.I too liked the Theme music, that ought to stay, but the rest of the score could be improved! The show would certainly benefit from it's own new score in that "funky" theme tune style, rather than re-using Barry Gray music. If you are going to attempt a re-dub and you want a voice or two, I'd be happy to lend a hand. I certainly craved more info on the Star Fleet characters, especially the Thalians. That's one reason why I wrote TRA.

Does anybody recognize the posters on Barry's side? It's Thunderbird 2 and the Fireflash

X-Bomber Re-dub?

Yeah, well spotted! I think we brought this up a fair few years back when the forum was a lot busier. A little nod to Gerry Anderson by Go Nagi there.Shiro's bunk has a pic of Thunderbird 1, I believe.
