You could spend just a *little* more and buy one of the Japanese Generation Re-Issues. Forbidden Planet in London had both Jazz and Prowl last time I was there, or you could order them from a specialist web-site like HobbyLink Japan. Its possible that the original Optimus Prime will be re-released in this fashion in the future...

I agree with Matt Darcy on this one. The orignal series and toys rocked. All other copies and regenerations are nothing more than copies. What a shame they hacked the transformers guise into cheap moneymaking shadows of it's former self.

I mean you could argue that Transformers sold out as early as 1986. After the first two years of quality Takara diecasts they started to build the cheap and nasty plastic space cars. A lot of the charm of Transformers was that their vehicle modes were based on real life designs like Datsun's and Porche'sI won't be truely happy untill they go back to the original 1984/1985 diecast designs. Just imagine how good modern road vehicles would look in this style.Shane.

I had to smile watching Beast Wars. There's a gag about die cast construction being a "lost art" which will have washed over the heads of the younger generation but of course for people like us watching the series it's one of those nice "wink" moments...
