Strange process needs a name

Post by NC »

This is a last ditch attempt to find out about a process I've seen a couple of times. What they do is take a 3D computer model, with this the computer guides a laser through a clear liquid, and slowly its build a 3D model out of this clear liquid. It looks very much like a 3D printer, any idea what this process is called, who does it and how much it costs?CheersNigel

This site any good to you? The process seems to be called Rapid Prototyping, and I suspect the liquid could be molten wax. See what you think...http://cyberfx.com/

Thanks for the link Andy, strangly enough it doesn't look like the same method, the process I've seen produces a clear and what looks like plastic objects...Having said that this process with the wax looks quite nice as well, depends on the size they can produce... I'm going to drop them a quick email to find out about price, this process looks quicker/cheaper than the other so might be the one to go for... I can always use them as molds... hmmm... exciting Nigel
