marionettes in new film!

Post by Bradster »

I just found a trailer to a new movie that's going to be released just before the US presidential elections this year. It makes fun of all nut-jobs, both conservative and liberal, with regards to the American "war on terror". It's all brought to you by the great satirists Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park. But the best part? It's all done using marionettes! When I saw the characters revealed in this clip, my very first thought was, "Wah! Why couldn't Thunderbirds The Movie have done this?" Team America: World Police!

I haven't heard anything about the choice of using marionettes, but I would say it looks like it's an extended pun/gag that politicians are a bunch of puppets.Just a guess, though. I could well be wrong and they just chose marionettes to upstage Thunderbirds The Movie. heh.

Wow. It looks as if they've completely reinvented the Thunderbirds style, even down to the style of the clothes! To quote Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back:"Gerry Anderson gonna sue somebody!"I wonder if they'll be editing the strings out - or, even more interestingly, will they be doing CGI marionettes for the Matrix stylee bits?!! The mind boggles...

It'd be possible to do as long as youi have enough time free to make the puppets.Kind of off topic nowTerry and mack took me 3 weeks to put together and paint, orion about 2.I'd be more than happy too work on the production of at least 1 puppets.

Quote (Zordon @ 07 Aug. 2004,17:55)It'd be possible to do as long as youi have enough time free to make the puppets. On a related note, I've read that this movie had the fastest turnaround for a movie that Paramount has *ever* done, from conception to distribution. I guess for professionals these puppets are relatively easy to manufacture.
