The way I always interpreted it is that Shiro lived on Earth with his mother while the Professor did his work. I also assume that since Shiro and his father were really rather distant that Mr. and Mrs. Hagen were separated, probably due to the separation anxiety that comes with the Professor being away.

Certainly describes a certain type of site...Sounds like the Japanese Firestorm has become pretty obscure, like Interster.From how you describe it, that's a shame.I can't do faces either, nor organic things, but machinery and related forms like buildings etc...
