This original painting was done in 2004 by Maemura Kyotsu. It was done as part of a collection of works called "Ultra Painter-Maemura Kyotsuna World", released by Gentosha Comics in 2004.
On the back, the image is dated 26th November. Down the right side, the pencil markings indicate that this is a 20% enlargement of a previous original.
The image deteriorated with age, with the paint peeling on Dai-X's arm and behind the battlecruiser, but has almost discolouration or fading.
It was owned by a fan of special effects work and was put up for sale on Yahoo Auctions in Japan in December 2020.
Dimensions
Canvas: 441mm x 317mm x 0.2 mm
Image: 329mm x 237mm wide
The style reminds me a lot of the Toshio Okazaki illustrations for the Showa books, but maybe even finer.

In February 2021, I found a second painting by the same artist.
This too was done in 2004 and has the same dimensions. There is some paint peeling on Shiro's helmet.
